How long should your pencil be to write a story?
It should be just long enough to reach the page, but not so long as to tear the paper. You should get a ruler and carefully measure each of your pencils before you start writing, to be sure they are not too long or too short. Otherwise, you might get halfway through your story, and suddenly realize that for the past ten minutes you have been writing with a too short pencil, and there is nothing at all on the paper!
How to write a long story?
i love to write and im pretty good at writing short stories and beginnings of longer stories but i can never finish a long one. Sometimes, i loose interest. Other times is because i don't know what to make happen or how to keep it interesting. it just doesn't go the way i want it to. So, what could i do to help me finish a long story.
You could do as Elmore Leonard does and start by simply developing your characters for the first couple chapters, then work on moving the plot along for the next few chapters (if you know your characters there's really no need to outline or plan ahead. The story will start to write itself.) Then, for the final few chapters, focus on wrapping things up.
Research is always good before you begin anything. If you have some interest in a subject, but not a lot of knowledge, read some books on it and then work from there.
