A special letter from READ-A-ROO!
Hey you guys!

Calling all writers and illustrators! This is your chance to write and illustrate an amazing story. It’s the PBS KIDS Writers Contest. Our panel of judges is looking for exceptional stories from kids in kindergarten to third grade. So crank up your imagination and let loose that extra special story that you’ve been dreaming up all year.

January 13 - March 14, 2014, we ask you to submit your masterpiece by mail to UNC-TV. A local judging will be held at UNC-TV and we will select a first, second, and third place winner. Each contest participant will receive a Certificate of Achievement and winners will receive prizes! First and second place winners will have their stories animated on-air and online. UNC-TV will submit the first place winners from each grade to PBS for a national judging!

So kids, put on your creative caps and start working on your stories! You can also encourage your siblings and friends to submit theirs. The contest also makes an engaging classroom project for teachers and is a great opportunity for parents and caregivers to work with their little ones.
