Hispanic Writing Contests

A Spanish writing contest!

Welcome to the home page of the Society of Latino and Hispanic Writers of San Antonio!

If you are a writer and are serious about getting published, you are welcome here. If you are a reader, especially about works written by and about Latinos and Hispanics, you are also welcome.

Our Society has been around since 2004 and we want to support writers who want to get published. We want to offer ways that writers can get published, can promote and can sell.

We offer the following:

Announced meetings/ workshops (may feature aspiring and published authors, who will speak to us regarding writing craft and the business of writing)

Monthly critique group meetings on the 1st Monday of the month (Spanish) - no longer meeting, but looking for Spanish Group Coordinator, if interested

Quarterly newsletter (in progress)

Annual writing contest (in progress)

Participate in book fairs, if available

Participate with community writing, performance and book groups, i.e., Gemini Ink, Guadalupe Cultural Arts Center, Las Mujeres from OLLU

Keep up-to-date with publishing news, community events and communicate with group members via our blog at

Scholarships for High School Senior?

Where can I find scholarships, or writing contests. I'll be a senior in high school and I want to get a head start. Any ideas?

Try searching on fastweb.com, you set up a profile and they send you emails with scholarships that fit your description. You can also search the site based on what you want to apply for (academics, music, ethnicity, religion, etc).
